                                                             Church ServicesBAPTISM

The Sacrament of Baptism.  It's a sign of God's love and will that we be reborn in the image of Christ our Savior.  Through water filled with the power of God's Word, Baptism:

WASHES away the guilt of our sins, BESTOWS God's grace upon us, DELIVERS us from the power of death and PROMISES us eternal life in God's Kingdom.

Baptism is an ACT OF GOD that unites us with the risen Christ and makes us members of God's family.

                    Our Altar Guild

Worship is our adoring responses to the eternal God; it is a central and unique act of the Church.  Worship is what identifies the church as the Church.

To serve on the Altar Guild is a privilege of the highest order.  It is a service of faith and love to the Holy One.  It involves humility in the presence of our God and Father, humility which is renewed by confession and absolution. Remembering who we are in the sight of God gives us hearts grateful for His forgiveness and hands eager to serve Him in this unique way.

The responsibilities of the Altar Guild are many:

Keeping the candles refilled with the candle oil, the Eternal Candle lasts seven days so needs to be replaced, the Paschal Candle is used between Easter and Pentecost, plus for baptisms and funerals.  Brass must be polished twice yearly.

Communion is celebrated the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the month.  The Altar Guild must prepare the wine/grape juice and wafers prior to communion.  Communion clean-up is also included in their duties.

Set-ups for Baptisms is the Altar Guild's responsibility.  This includes  the baptismal candle, napkin, white washcloth, silver pitcher, silver oil dish with olive oil, the Padschal Candle and a special banner is hung.

Altar linens must be laundered along with the napkin Pastor uses in communion. Paraments must be changed according to colors based on the season.  Additional time is required by members during Advent and Lent seasons due to extra services and preparations. The Chancel area should be dusted and vacuumed weekly.

Our current Altar Guild Members:

Jane Warner-Rohrig, Kathy WIck, Diann Feakes, Kim Baumert, Carol Einertson, Andrea Newport, Janice Orth, Dee Dee Pargman, Mary Tincher and K.C. Howshar.  Two members serve each month.  If you are interested in serving on the Altar Guild please contact the Church Office for more information.
