“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing: it is the gift of God, not the result of works, so that no one may boast.
For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.”
Ephesians 2:8–10
God’s Work. Our Hands. – Sunday, September 10, 2023
Mila’s Retirement from Bethel—Sunday, September 10, 2023
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I know what you are thinking, “Isn’t this an August newsletter? Why is Pastor Barb referring to a September activity?” Here is the answer to both questions:
“Yes! This is an August newsletter!”
AND
“Because God’s Work, Our Hands is important enough that we need to start now!”
The ELCA continues to find ways to help us serve God, by serving others with our hands! We will be bonding together with Lutherans all over the United States to impact our communities by reaching in and reaching out to help others. The hope of the Missions Team would be to help some of our own members who might need help around their homes AND to fill bags for us to hand out when those who are in need come by Bethel OR that you, the members of Bethel, can take in your cars to share with others who are in need by the stop lights in the Aurora/Denver area. (Check out the Missions info inside our newsletter!)
- If you have the GWOH T-Shirts—Wear them proudly!
- Serve together with us and make a difference!
- Remember it’s fun to serve together!
- ADULTS show our young people how to serve! YOUNG PEOPLE show us adult how to serve!

Our dear Mila will be retiring from 18 years serving us at Bethel! Her last Sunday will be the same day as God’s Work Our Hands Sunday, September 10. She has blessed us over and over throughout the years with her joy, talent,
servant’s heart and incredible ability to accompany and lead us in worship. She is part and parcel of the life of our congregation and for that I/we are thankful.
We are planning a potluck and celebration following worship as together we thank her. We will also fill our service bags for others. Be looking for an email or letter from me with more information and ways to celebrate with Mila.
In Christ,
Pastor Barb
