“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Over these last weeks we have been visiting the “Places of the Passion” and hearing the story of Jesus’ journey to the cross where “he was pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities.” As we recall the words of Isaiah we are reminded that we have been HEALED by his wounds! Are these words not powerful? Isaiah, almost 600
years before Jesus’ birth told OUR story of hope!
On March 28th we enter Holy Week. This is the crux of Christianity, for it is this week when we remember what the God of ALL creation was willing to do for humanity. We will remember the joy of Jesus entry into Jerusalem, his last supper with the disciples as they celebrated the Passover, his arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane, his trial and his
death on the cross…..AND we will find our HOPE is given after the depth of despair. We know….we are marked….we are moved….we are changed by every aspect of this upcoming week.
You are welcome to join us in person, on Facebook as our worship is livestreamed OR you can follow the services later as they are uploaded on our YouTube channel, Bethel Lutheran Aurora. We pray that throughout Holy Week you will choose to commit to be present with us for at least one of the three avenues of worship. We want you, your family and friends to know the powerful hope we have received through Jesus’ actions, death and resurrection. Invite those who don’t know to join in.
We would ask, if you desire to be with us in person, that you register by calling the church office or going online to our website: BethelAurora.org. Our number has now been increased to 75 participants, plus those leading worship. We ask that you arrive early on Easter if you are signed up, as you will be first inline for a place to be seated. Anyone
arriving 5 minutes after worship begins will forfeit their reserved seat to others that are waiting.
Join us for our continued celebrations!
In Christ, Pastor Barb
