“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Blessings to you as we enter into the year 2020!
Can any one of you believe that the year 2020 has come? It seems crazy to me that we are looking at another decade beginning and yet, I know, whether I like it or not, time continues to roll on by. Every year we hit New Year’s Eve and people make new resolutions AND every year we all have trouble keeping those New Year’s resolutions!
People will make new resolutions about:
- Spending time with their family members
- Treating their spouse and children with respect
- Performance at work
- Changing eating habits
- Joining a gym to get into shape AND
- Coming to church and bettering their relationship with God Have you ever made any one of those resolutions?
If so, how many have you kept? How has it gone? How long did it last?
We humans, in our frailty, find it so difficult to keep the resolutions/promises we make, but God stands firm with his promises. God promises us that he will never leave us or forsake us! (Deuteronomy 31:8) God promises us that NOTHING will separate us from his love! (Romans 8:37-39) Are we not blessed?
We have the Creator of the universe who:
- Has promised us more than we can imagine
- Came on Christmas so long ago
- Died on a cross
- Rose from the dead AND
- Promised us life
This is who is there for each of us! Let us be thankful in this coming year of 2020! Let us think through our promises/resolutions! Let us be about re-committing our lives to Christ! Let us live in the joy of our salvation! Let us grow in God’s Word! Let us be an active part of Christ’s community! Look ahead…step up…step in…make a promise to the One who loves you. Happy New Year!
