In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
James 2:17-18
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is hard to believe that we are now moving into the month of September. Our young people have headed back to school and we are attempting to figure out how we venture back to church. What do we do with Sunday School? What do we do with choir? What do we do with worship? What do we do with reaching our community?
What do we do? We make every attempt to be FAITHFUL in our decisions and actions, while we provide options for you in the ministry at and through Bethel. For the next five weeks our focus in worship will be the Letter of James, which pulls us to FAITH IN ACTION. As we break into September our church will participate in GOD’S WORK. OUR HANDS. We have, over the years, made a difference in many ways as we have reached past ourselves into the community. We have thanked the Police and Fire Departments with fresh baked goods, fed the homeless, packed bags
for people in need, delivered necessities to those living in hotels and more. This year we will be filling bags with items the homeless need AND helping our members who need help in their homes or yards.
The Letter of James is full of key phrases and two which move us are: 1) “Be doers of the word” (James 1:22) and 2) “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” (James 2:17). We have all heard these phrases and have been moved for at the center of FAITH IN ACTION are the words: I ACT, do you see it? Allow the words in James to touch you and move you! Come and be a part of things as we are opening more and more with possibilities at Bethel!
I pray you will continue to join us as we make a difference! I do want to thank you all for bringing items for filling the bags, who have brought items for our Block Party and who have helped with our school sale. You have astounded me!
Thank you!
God calls us to live as a FAITHFUL people.
